Forest Grove Parks & Recreation and the Forest Grove Public Library will join forces at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 to unveil the Stites Park StoryWalk.
Stites Park, located at 2423 26th Ave, is now host to the "Flight of the Honey Bee," written by Raymond Huber and illustrated by Brian Lovelock.
A honey tasting will begin at 11 a,m, through 12 p.m. or until supplies last, attendees will be invited to complete a button-making craft, and pollinator houses painted by community members will be unveiled.
"A StoryWalk is just what it sounds like: A story you can enjoy while you walk. Picture book pages are mounted on frames along a path and may include activity prompts," the city of Forest Grove said on a webpage explaining the program.
The pollinator portion of the event was planned by a teen intern hired via a grant awarded to the Forest Grove City Library by the State Library of Oregon, Teen Services Librarian Lily Hawley told News in the Grove.
"We hired a phenomenal intern, her name is Zoë. As part of the grant she has to complete a connected learning project, which for her is taking the form of an informational and fun program around pollinators," Hawley said.
Saturday's event will be the second such event she has run.
