A vehicle stolen out of Forest Grove was recovered in Hillsboro and the vehicle returned to its owners after a dog and drone search turned up four youth, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

According to an Oct. 13 press release, Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies patrolling SW Tualatin Valley Highway near SE 48th Avenue in Hillsboro on Oct. 8 just before 10 p.m. tried to pull over a 2019 Dodge Journey after noting a traffic violation.

"While trying to pull the vehicle over, the driver began eluding," the Washington county Sheriff's Office said.

The driver entered neighborhoods near SW 170th Avenue and SW Ivy Glenn Street, and the occupants abandoned the vehicle. A caller reported the abandoned vehicle, which had been left in the street, and deputies set up containment in the area while awaiting a K9 and a drone.

The combination proved effective. All four occupants were found, the sheriff's office said.

"Two were found on a side street, while Corporal Terry and K9 Griff found the remaining two hiding in bushes outside a home," the sheriff's office said.

All four were found to be juveniles, and were referred to the Washington County Juvenile Department.

The Dodge was returned to the registered owner.

The sheriff's office urged anyone who witnessed the incident that had not already spoken with investigators to call non-emergency dispatch (503-629-0111) and reference case number 50-25-14211.
