Highway 6 is back to two lanes after nearly a month of emergency repairs following December's landslide and sunken grade. Flaggers remain on site, with guardrail work scheduled for Monday.
In the same rainstorm that led to a closure of Highway 6, localized flooding in Gales Creek prompted Washington County to plan a third culvert at a two-culvert project completed last year near Thornburg Road.
Emergency repairs at the milepost 35 sunken grade continue on Highway 6, and this month, travelers can expect more delays as the Oregon Department of Transportation begins work on replacing guardrails along the corridor.
With no long-term fix in sight for the crumbling Highway 6, county leaders declared an emergency Tuesday morning, asking the state to address the issues plaguing the Wilson River Highway.
Highway 6 has closed again after a new crack formed in the only lane still in operation near milepost 35. The highway is expected to be closed most of Sunday.
The Wilson River Highway is closed between mileposts 27 and 42 after a landslide and sunken grade made the roadway impassable. No reopening estimate has been made yet.
Gales Creek Road, currently closed, will open, and Thornburg Road, currently open, will close Sept. 16 as the county steams ahead on a dual-culvert replacement project.
Washington County will close part of Old Highway 47 between Etters Road and Maple Lane in the Seghers community starting Aug. 8 until approximately Sept. 5, officials say. Travelers headed to Hagg Lake and other local attractions are advised to follow a posted detour sign.
A tree fell on Stringtown Road Thursday evening, taking electric lines with it, resulting in a road closure between Gales Creek Road and Ritchie Road, Washington County Land Use and Transportation said.
