Banks Fire District is among several Washington County fire agencies that headed to central Oregon Friday morning in preparation for what could be a dangerous wildfire weekend for that region.
Firefighters will light a donated home ablaze at the corner of NW Kansas City Road and Hillside Road Saturday, giving new recruits a rare opportunity to experience live fire in a training context.
Forest Grove Fire & Rescue took nearly 5,000 calls in 2022, with about 13% of them in the Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District, which includes Gales creek, Glenwood, Dilley, and more.
The yellow home at the corner of Old Wilson River Road and Thornburg Road will be used in a training burn Saturday, November 5, Forest Grove Fire and Rescue said.�The home was built in the early 20th century.
In the month of September, Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, which also provides service to the surrounding Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District, responded to 449 calls for service across their combined territories, averaging nearly 15 calls each day.
Among those battling the 10,500 acre Miller Road Fire in Wasco County are crews from Banks Fire District and Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, who joined a task force of other Washington County Fire agencies Wednesday.�
