The Red Rooster Saloon is turning one, and to celebrate, the saloon at the corner of Main Street and Pacific Avenue is throwing an '80s anniversary party Saturday, May 3.
The 21-and-older party is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. A best-dressed costume contest for the 80s theme (post your photo to Facebook or Instagram with the #redroosterbestdressed hashtag for a chance at a $50 gift card), dancing, games, a photo booth and more are on tap.
"We have a cool laid-back vibe where everybody can hang out and meet new people," owner Connie Silvis said, and she expects the event to feel the same for those stopping by.
Silvis has at least one as-yet-unannounced special guest planned for the party.
Silvis opened the doors to the Red Rooster Saloon on May 3, 2024.
"I've always wanted to have a bar," she said. After raising four kids, she decided the time was right.
"I could either just do it and be brave," Silvis said. "Or just y'know, give up on it and I don't want to do that, so I just decided to do it."
After another Forest Grove small business Silvis was working with passed on the location — the Red Rooster has an oddly shaped layout, located in the historic 1913 First National Bank building — Silvis decided to open up shop there herself.

It's become a family affair; her fiancé Damien Foley helps at the bar, and some of her adult children help when they visit or handle the books from afar.
"I really love people and I really love bringing people together," Silvis added. "One of my favorite things about owning the bar has been watching people meet here and introducing people here and seeing them become friends," she said
"The vibe that all the rad humans create, that’s what gives me the most satisfaction," Silvis added.
A Facebook event has been created with more information.
The Red Rooster is located at 2004 Main Street.
