A power outage hit Forest Grove late Friday morning, resulting in a loss of power for many in the western portion of the city, including at least three schools.
According to Forest Grove Light & Power, the city's municipal electric utility, the outage was caused by an equipment failure at the Thatcher Junction substation.
"Our crews are actively working in the field to switch and restore service," FGL&P said at 11:49 a.m..
"We expect to have power fully restored within approximately 1 hour," the utility added.
The Forest Grove School District said three schools were without power, including the Forest Grove High School, Tom McCall Upper Elementary School, and Harvey Clarke Elementary School.
"Students are safe and schools are maintaining operations at this time. We will provide updates as we receive more information," the district said in a statement.
Other businesses and organizations in downtown Forest Grove said they were without power.
"Due to power outage, HQ offices and preschool closed for in-person activities the rest of the day," a press release from Adelante Mujeres read.
The north end of Pacific University's campus was without power, Pacific University spokesperson Blake Timm said in an email to News in the Grove.
"That includes all residence halls (except Cascade Hall), the Stoller Center and Les AuCoin Hall," he said.
Other university buildings still had power, including the University Center, Tran Library, and Marsh Hall.
