Oregon State Police say a pedestrian on Highway 6 died after being struck by a semi-truck on Highway 6 about three miles west of the Tillamook and Washington County line on Tuesday.

According to a press release from the state agency, Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to a crash near mile marker 30 on the Wilson River Highway in Tillamook County at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, September 10.

Police said their preliminary investigation showed that a pedestrian, Jaime Cristobal Aguilar Herrera, 25, of Beaverton entered the roadway for unknown reasons and was struck by an eastbound white Freightliner semi-truck, driven by Scott Lee Gotchall, 64, of Portland.

Aguilar Herrera was pronounced deceased at the scene, OSP said.

Gotchall was uninjured.

The highway was closed and then opened to one lane of traffic, affecting travel for more than three hours.

Also on scene were the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Tillamook Fire District, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
