More than 40 “talented young performers” will take the stage at Theatre in the Grove this August to perform The Wizard of Oz in an annual Youth Summer Production.

Running from Aug. 1 through Aug. 10, the show will feature over 40 local youth performers between the ages of eight and 18 who participated in Theatre in the Grove’s two-week long CAST summer camp.

“Join Dorothy, a brave young dreamer, as she embarks on a thrilling adventure through the enchanting world of Oz, with a dancing scarecrow, heartless tinman, cowardly lion, and wicked witch—all brought to life by an incredibly talented cast of young performers,” said Theatre in the Grove’s marketing employee Johnathan Kipp in an email to News in the Grove.

Audiences can expect to hear many of The Wizard of Oz’s classic songs, including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” dazzling costumes, and stunning choreography, according to an email exchange between Kipp and News in the Grove.

“This production is a heartwarming celebration of friendship, courage, and the power of believing in oneself,” said Kipp in an email to News in the Grove. “The Wizard of Oz: written by L. Frank Baum with music by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, is a magical experience that will captivate children, parents, and grandparents alike. For fans of Wicked, this is a chance to witness where the story of Oz began,” the email continued.

Eight-year-old Maddy Noyes will star as the young protagonist Dorothy in this production alongside her cast of other youth Forest Grove performers.
