The Forest Grove School District said that windows and doors at Gales Creek's Oak Grove Academy were damaged in an incident Tuesday, February 7 involving a student.

As a result, the school was closed and will reopen Monday, February 13 following repairs.

A statement from the district noted that the building was placed on lockout while law enforcement was called to assist.

"Oak Grove staff are highly trained and followed all district and program protocols to keep students safe," the district said. "We are cooperating with law enforcement around this incident."

The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, said David Warner, FGSD director of communications and engagement in an email to the Gales Creek Journal.

Warner declined to give further specifics beyond noting the damage to doors and windows, saying that the incident concerned a student.

Students are being remotely instructed while the building undergoes repairs.

Oak Grove Academy is a therapeutic educational program that serves students that qualify for special education from grades 6-12. It draws students from the Forest Grove School District and surrounding districts.
