A nationwide protest against President Donald Trump's administration will include a Forest Grove protest at the flagpole Saturday, June 14 beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Organized by Indivisible Forest Grove, the organizers said the protest is anticipated to rival the size of a similar nationwide protest held in April, where more than 300 people gathered in the largest protest in Forest Grove to date this year.
The giant flagpole east of Safeway at the triangle formed by the start of Forest Grove's one-way grid has become a common protest site.
"250 years ago, our predecessors and future American citizens, came together and decreed there will be no more kings in America," the Forest Grove group, who have organized numerous protests this year in Forest Grove. "As the successors to these brave individuals who sought freedom and justice for all, we at Indivisible Forest Grove feel a moral and patriotic responsibility to oppose the Trump regime," the group said in a press release.
Other protests will be held throughout the region, including at least two in Hillsboro.
In an email to News in the Grove, the Forest Grove Police Department said they had not been contacted by event organizers.
"There will not be a planned police presence unless the need arises," Forest Grove Police spokesperson Sergeant Andrew Colasurdo said.
The group has planned additional events for June 20, July 4, and July 18.
