A man called 911 on Wednesday morning to report that he had been shot, the Forest Grove Police Department said.
According to police, deputies responded to a home near the intersection of 19th Avenue and Elm Street in Forest Grove on Wednesday, Oct. 15 just after 7:30 a.m.
Officers arrived and found an adult male with a gunshot wound.
"The male was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition," the Forest Grove Police Department said.
The department said the identity of the victim would not be released.
The police department was scant on details. No clarity was offered on if there was a crime believed to have happened, if the shooting had been accidental, or if there had been some other reason for the shooting.
"Everyone involved in the incident is accounted for and cooperating with investigators," police said. "This was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public."
"This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information will be released at this time," the department said.
Also assisting on scene were the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, American Medical Response and Forest Grove Fire and Rescue.
At 3 p.m. Wednesday, a single Forest Grove Police Department truck remained at the scene, where yellow police tape surrounded the home.
