Forest Grove voters appear to reject bond to fund new police station

The city of Forest Grove will need to turn elsewhere if it wishes to fund the construction of a new police station. The latest vote tally issued Friday afternoon widened the 'no' vote to a 190-vote lead.

The Washington County Elections Division published the latest ballot tally Friday afternoon, and the results continue a trend seen in every subsequent vote tally since Tuesday.

The city of Forest Grove will need to turn elsewhere if it wishes to fund the construction of a new police station.

The no vote, already in the lead by 103 votes, has widened to a 190-vote lead.

As of Friday, 2,204 Forest Grove residents had cast a "no" vote to 2,014 ballots cast in favor, or 52.25% to 47.75%.

71 voters returned a ballot but did not make any selection on the bond question.

The elections division will continue to count ballots that were postmarked by May 20 at 8 p.m. through May 27.

The next results will be reported May 30, according to the Washington County Elections Division.
