The Washington County Elections Division released the certified election results on Tuesday from the May 20 special district election, including precinct-level data on the election that saw contested school board races in Forest Grove and a close but ultimately doomed vote to fund the replacement of a new police station.

The city of Forest Grove is largely split into two precincts, Precincts 339 and 340. A third, Precinct 445, has just one registered voter, and they didn't vote, so we've excluded it for the purposes of this story here and in school board results.

The city's two main precincts split the city at Main Street until Willamina Avenue, where the boundaries become more fragmented to the northern edge of city limits.

Police station bond sunk by western Forest Grove voters

When it came to Measure 34-343, a bond to fund a new police station in Forest Grove, east Forest Grove voters favored the measure more than the voters in the western portion of the city.

According to the final certified results released Tuesday, Precinct 339 on the east side of the city held a slim majority of voters voting yes—50.48%, or 793 voters—to the no votes at 49.52% or 778 votes. The precinct's total voter turnout across all contests, 21.11%, was lower than precinct 440's 30.73% turnout, and lower than the county's turnout of 22.47%.

37 voters chose not to fill in a circle on the question at all.

In Precinct 440, the measure was less popular, and the precinct's larger pool of voters and heavier turnout sank the measure.
