10 p.m. update: The 'no' votes edged closer to a victory in the second batch of results posted by the county elections division at 10 p.m., but with 51.08% voting no and 48.92% voting yes, just a 56 vote difference, Measure 34-343 remained too close to call.

Original story:

Forest Grove voters were split in their choice of funding a new station for the city's police force Tuesday night, but the nays held a slim early lead in the first results posted at 8 p.m.

The vote stood at 50.85% voting no to 49.15% voting yes.

The city crafted a bond measure asking voters to approve funds to build a new station at a different location on the same block as the existing station to address a laundry list of issues, including a lack of seismic resilience, a building that doesn't meet accessibility standards, lack of storage space for evidence and records and more.
