Forest Grove Beehive, an assisted living facility, is preparing to host and participate in National Night Out (NNO), an annual event that “enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community,” according to NNO’s official website.

NNO, which will be held this year on Tuesday, Aug. 5, is a nationwide event focused on allowing local neighborhoods to connect with one another while building a safer community. In the city of Forest Grove, residents are invited to host their own event, join a gathering in their neighborhood or attend the Beehive gathering.

“You are invited to share in the fun at Forest Grove Beehive who always throw a great shindig,” said a post on the Forest Grove Police Department (FGPD) Facebook page. “Swing by from 6-8 on Tuesday, August 5 for games, snacks, prizes, and a bounce house,” the post continued.

The FGPD says it plans to stop by as many gatherings as they can, including the celebration taking place at The Beehive.

“We'll be coming by with stickers and tattoos, as well as making our way around various neighborhood gatherings,” said the FGPD in a Facebook post.

A post on the City of Forest Grove’s website says to contact the FGPD if community members want police officers to attend their gatherings. “If you'd like us to come to your event, let us know: Email Lquinsland@forestgrove-or.gov or call 503-992-3104. Please include the event address, time of the event, and a point of contact,” the city said.

The Forest Grove Police Department will help sponsor a free health and safety fair on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Crossroads Church (1523 Pacific Ave).

“We are helping sponsor it as sort of an extension of NNO as it’s in line with the large community NNO we used to host – but we chose a Saturday to open it up for more visitors, more booths/vendors/information tables,” said FGPD Community Outreach Specialist Lauren Quinsland in an email to News in the Grove.

“We'll be joined by Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, Pacific University, the Red Cross, Virginia Garcia, and more,” said a post on the City of Forest Grove’s website. “Free health services and screenings are available to the public, including vitals checking, blood pressure checks, hearing screenings, hair cuts, mental health resources, and CPR demonstrations,” the post continued.

The Beehive is located at 2122 Hawthorne Street in Forest Grove.
