Smoke rising into a hot summer day in the general vicinity of Thatcher Park was from a field fire on Plum Hill Lane on the city's northwestern border.
According to Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, the fire was extinguished as of about 1:30 p.m. Monday after burning about 3/4 acres.

The temperature was close to 90 degrees at the time of the fire. The area hosts several actively farmed fields, and remains one of the largest agricultural areas mostly inside city limits, and backs into forested areas adjacent to the Gales Creek Valley via David Hill.
Other neighboring agencies raced to the scene as well before the fire was extinguished, including Hillsboro Fire & Rescue.
Forest Grove Fire & Rescue said the fire appeared to have been started by machinery working in the field.
