Little information about threats to students and staff at the Forest Grove High School allegedly made by other students has come to light after three weeks.

What was described as a "hit list" by Forest Grove High School Principal Brian Burke in an email to district families on November 19 prompted a police investigation, and the investigation remains open.

"We continue to work with local law enforcement while their investigation continues," Burke said in a brief update made Friday, Dec. 5.

"Individuals who may have been involved will not be allowed to return to school in person until the police investigation is complete, or the police inform us that those individuals have been cleared," Burke said.

Burke added that the school would follow Forest Grove School District Board policies if it determined there was enough information to proceed with disciplinary measures independent of the ongoing police investigation.

A spokesperson for the Forest Grove Police Department said the incident remained under investigation, but did not offer further updates.

In a Dec. 10 email to News in the Grove, Washington County District Attorney's Office Public Information Officer Stephen Mayer said their office was aware of the case.

"Forest Grove PD is still actively investigating the case, so it has not been officially referred to us yet," Mayer said, noting that their office could not comment further.
