Friday morning update: Fern Hill Road reopened jus before 10 a.m. Friday, according to Washington County LUT and a visual confirmation via the Washington County traffic camera in the area.

For the first time this season, the gates at Fern Hill Road are up, blocking access to a popular route for Forest Grove commuters trying to get to the east side of the county.

“Fern Hill Road is closed between Taylor Way and Geiger Road due to flooding,” the Washington County Department of Land Use and Transportation said just before 5 p.m. Thursday, just as the evening commute began.

Before driving the road during periods of heavy rain, it’s always good practice to check out the cameras on tripcheck.com to see if it’s closed or not.

Two gates—one at Taylor Way and one at Geiger Road—on Fern Hill Road are shut by county crews as water floods the roadway.

“Avoid the area; use alternate route,” the Washington County said.
