The body of a swimmer who went missing at Hagg Lake Monday afternoon was found Tuesday morning, the Washington County Sheriffs Office said.

Deputies first responded at 2:17 p.m. Monday, July 26 to reports that a man had been seen by his family disappear under the water while swimming. The Sheriffs Office Marine Patrol, already on the lake, responded to search for the missing man, as did crews from Gaston Rural Fire District.

Joined eventually by the Lake Oswego Fire Departments Dive Team and the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office, searchers eventually halted efforts to find the swimmer due to extreme heat and concerns for the safety of search crew members, the sheriffs office said.

After resuming the search Tuesday morning, the mans body was discovered around 11 a.m. by divers from the Lake Oswego Fire Department near the Peninsula Trailhead.

A cause of death will be determined by the Washington County Medical Examiners Office, who responded Tuesday to investigate the death. The sheriffs office said that there was no indication that foul play was involved in the mans death, who will be named after the family is notified.
